AUSTRIAN ~ WINTER WONDERLAND - 2011

The dramatic scenery of Austria's Wonderland is never more breathtaking than when dressed in a cloak of winter snow. Our chosen Hotel, the Mohenwirt, is centred in the beautiful lakeside village of Fuschl, which lies at the foot of the Alps in the Salzgummergut region. The Hotel has its own private beach on the shores of the lake and has been recently renovated with a new spa area with Jacuzzi's and Sauna's. During our stay, we will visit Salzburg, the village immortilised in the film "The Sound of Music" as well as taking a drive through the spectacular Austrian Lake District.

ITINERARY

SATURDAY ~ We depart mid morning for our journey to Dover and our Ferry across to France. We travel overnight, heading through France, over the Rhine, into Germany. We then continue on via Stutgart and Munich, arriving in Fuschl at lunchtime on the Sunday. The remainder of the day is at leisure to do as you wish, before we meet for our first evening meal.
MONDAY through to WEDNESDAY ~ These days are at leisure, or alternatively, you may wish to join us on the excursions we have arranged.
THURSDAY/FRIDAY ~ After breakfast, we bid farewell to our hosts and retrace our steps back through Germany, travelling overnight into France, and on to Calais, for our early morning Ferry across to Dover. We arrive back at our local pick up points mid morning on the Friday.

EXCURSIONS

** Visit to SALZBURG, just a short drive from Fuschl. Here you will be able to visit Mozart's House, or the Hohensalzburgh fortress, which dominates this fascinating city. One of the biggest Castles in Europe, gives you magnificent views right across the city.

** A full day excursion around the beautiful Austrian Lake District. After a stop at Lake St Wolfgang, we then travel on to the Market town of Mondsee to visit its famous Church, the location for the wedding scene in the film "The Sound of Music".
